From our local paper today:

Last night there were a number of arrests, including that of a Washington man who allegedly became intoxicated and fell asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in the drive-through lane of a fast-food restaurant.

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, police said, officers arrested Greg Smith, 34, for driving under the influence. Police said Smith is free on $500 bail.

David Logan, 33, of 22 Ardlane Road spent the night in county jail in lieu of $7,000 bail after he called the police department at 7 a.m. on Sunday to report hearing voices outside his room at a local motel. Officers found Logan in possession of nine packets of heroin and arrested him and charged him with drug possession. Another report sparked the arrest of a city man about an hour later. Alfonse Carrera, 32, of 3 Forest Drive, called police to report his car stolen. Five hours subsequent to his call, the same car refused to stop for an officer. Police said Carrera admitted to driving the vehicle to Woodstock and abandoning it in a cover-up scheme. He is charged with filing a false report and interfering with an investigation and released on $500 bail.

Good finds Anna--thanks.

On the surface I chuckle at these stories, but underneath I feel there are some dark circumstances indeed that propel these people to do these things, and I find that sad.
