Oh, some time ago I made a post that fell flat & got no comments...and I made some comment like "And a cold wind blew over the bare plain." Then a reader came by and, adopting the persona of a talking tumbleweed, left some comments and we had a little dialogue for a while.

So I meant a post that gets no comments.

That was very well-articulated, though I wouldn't say that there are many religions with strong intellectual traditions, unless by "intellectual" one means, "people think and write about them a lot." The reason I feel more tolerence toward established religions (rather than, for example, Scientology) isn't because of their intellectualism, but rather because I feel that harmless traditions are important (like Christmas trees or passover meals) for their own sake. They give us excuses to come together and celebrate and take stock. They make me feel grounded in the past and connected to the future.
