With all due respect to those who wear their block-M on their sleeve, U-M alum Ypsidixit does not understand why people retain such fervent passions for schools into adulthood. Yes, it's a charmed time of life, but it's over, and time to look to the future and move on.

Grad school was a much less charmed time of life, but that's a different story.

I think people simply like to bask in the reflective glory of a good football team. If Michigan is a winner then they feel like winners too even though they didnt do anything besides buy a ticket to the game.

But, fwiw, I have to confess that I like to watch a good football game in person too. I would probably even go to UofM games if I werent so cheap. EMU games are much cheaper (although I havent gone to any of those in a few years either)

Lynne--I think you've got it pegged about why people go to games.

EMU games are very reasonably priced and you can actually see the players instead of sitting a mile away in an oversized stadium.

Plus, I think games end up being more exciting when the players arent as good. Sometimes a good fumble really spices things up. That is why I cant stand pro football. The players are too good. Come to think of it, that is the same reason I like minor league baseball.
