You've said it well. What a piece of garbage this is. The (UNbelievable that it got in there!)dating service line is so incredibly offensive. It looks a little like one of those jokes the Microsoft guys hid in Windows.

Addiann, I'm glad you think so too; thanks for your comment.

As someone who failed rather spectacularly at the daunting prospect of marriage, I'm an expert on the subject (as opposed to my parents, who've been married 38 years now, and sister, who's been married a decade now, and counting).

We all have our various histories with marriage, divorce, and otherwise situtions, but none of that is the government's business. And it's certainly NOT the activity I want them using my taxes for.

I agree completely. It violates the privacy of marriage. As if the state has the right to intrude on this sacrosanct, intimate decision made by two people who love each other--oh, it galls me to no end.

Phew--I'm glad to see sensible people are agreeing with my wild rant; thank you.

Holy hell, is *this* what Bush thinks is more important than Head Start? Instead of funnelling grant money into programs like that (I mean, really, "marriage mentors"?), our government (we) should work on education, biomedical research, etc. etc. Grr.

I agree. My mom volunteered in Head Start for years, and she always thought it was a very helpful program.

I know the guy who started it. He just retired, and I fear that without him in Washington every other week to advocate, the program is going to disappear.

(quietly wonders why only women are responding on this thread).

Errr... Addiann is female? (quietly readjusts her mental image). Oops. Much better.

Oh, that's curious. I don't actually know if Addiann is female. I just assumed so based on the "sound symbolism" of her (?) pretty name. And her sound common sense, thoughtfulness, and wisdom. But I could be wrong.

...said Addiann, female. Who just now saw this post. What a nice thing to say, Laura.

Oh, well, it's your comments, after all, that create that impression and I'm always grateful you stop by.
