I'm rather surprised that nubile, young women don't get in free. I can't believe he'd make potential dates pay to see him.

You just saved me 30 bucks, kiddo--thanks for the tip.

Bill Maher is a major womanizer. I guess it was his performance in "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death" back in 1989 that made him a chick-magnet.

If you can imagine how circa 1975 hair-bands had roadies scouring the crowd, you can imagine how Bill's crew works.

He sure is funny, isn't he?

Eric * - 2004-10-05 14:21:15
I have to admit that his performance in "Bimbo Movie Bash" always cracks me up.

See? (goes back to Windexing her glass house).

In an effort to steer this away from such Maher classics as "Ratboy" and "Pizza Man," why is it that mediocre comics have found new life as "political" pundits? Maher, Al Franken, Dennis Miller, Janeane Garafolo, Ann Coulter, etc. Even Bill O'Reilly was the host of "Inside Edition" pre-Fox cable news.

Laura - 2004-10-05 14:33:20
Anne Coulter is funny? I thought she was just obnoxious.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Eric * - 2004-10-05 14:38:46
While Coulter was getting her law degree from Michigan, she was a regular at "Second City." I swear I read a Detroit News article once where Spencer Abraham said he hired her to handle Senate Judiciary Committee issues for him because she "told the 'Aristocrats' better than anyone since Bob Hope."

Laura, groaning - 2004-10-05 14:59:10
(I knew it had to happen sooner of later...the inevitable mention of "The Aristocrats" which is NOT FUNNY AT ALL and leaves the normally humorous and bouncy Ypsidixit stern and stonefaced.)

Eric * - 2004-10-05 15:06:33
Don't blame me. I voted for Bob Carr.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

addiann - 2004-10-05 15:19:08
ohmygod, Bob Carr
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Laura, clueless - 2004-10-05 15:28:57
Ah yes. Bob Carr. The premier of New South Wales. No--the daylily guy. No! The "Head Chef, Macrobiotic Counselor, Musician".

(thanks a lot, Google). Um, ah, who is Bob Carr?
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Eric * - 2004-10-05 15:34:23
Bob Carr was the democratic candidate for U.S. Senator in 1994 who was defeated by Spencer Abraham.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Laura - 2004-10-05 15:36:21
Well, that clears things right up! (still in a total fog as to why addiann said "ohmygod, Bob Carr").

Eric * - 2004-10-05 15:38:56
Don't get angry at me. I'm not the one without a television.

I believe the Biography channel is doing a profile on Bob Carr tonight at 8PM for those of you with the Comcast Extended cable plan.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

addiann - 2004-10-05 15:40:38
because I also voted for Bob Carr, not particularly because I wanted to, but as a negative vote to Abraham. But Carr was pretty much of a joke.

addiann - 2004-10-05 15:42:55
and as much of a big head that he was, (is?, did he die already, Eric*?) he'd be horrified that Google doesn't know him.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Laura, surprised - 2004-10-05 15:44:35
Easy, there, Eric *--I wasn't angry. The fact I have no TV has zero bearing on the fact that I didn't happen to know some obscure political microfact. In fact I've gotten much smarter since ditching my TV years ago, which was a darn smart action in and of itself.

Addiann: ah. There we go. Thanks. Nope, he wasn't in the top handful of Google returns.

Eric * - 2004-10-05 15:50:43
Your state's U.S. Senate race is obscure? For shame. Bob Carr was leading three weeks prior to the election, but he allegedly got drunk at a Lansing gentleman's club and said he wanted to fight Dan Quayle. That really ruined it for him. Abraham ended up winning 52-43.

According to the Political Graveyard, (Milton) Robert Carr was still living as of 2002.

Laura - 2004-10-05 15:52:38
Eric *! In 1994 I was a nubile, young woman without much interest in politics.

But that's changed now.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Eric * - 2004-10-05 15:54:22
It's a shame you didn't meet Bill Maher back then.

And the circle is complete.
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Laura, all smiles - 2004-10-05 15:55:42
(laughs with delight).
* * * * * * * * * * * *

ann arbor is overrated - 2004-10-07 15:02:45
Maher lost all credibility with me when he referred to Kobe Bryant's accuser as "Looney McSlut." I can't believe that wasn't even remotely controversial.

I'm very flattered that my favorite AA blogwriter stopped by; thank you AAIO.

I hadn't heard that comment of his before, I must say.

Laura again - 2004-10-07 20:23:54
(quietly wonders what Camille Paglia would say in response to AAIO's comment, realizes she knows).

(coughs, runs away).
