As Eric * notes, there is no clear reason why she's pulling this, unless she has long-range political goals in mind and wants to win the approval of conservative constituents and colleagues. That's my best guess, and a not very good one. In the meantime, the last thing some struggling guy in a substance abuse program somewhere needs is to be told to embrace Jesus.
