I hope the comparison in no way suggests the Courier is not doing enough to cover its beat. Please keep in mind that it has a production schedule that is not as flexible as a daily paper or TV broadcast. I thought this week's issue was a bang-up job, although they should sack that fawning, half-literate theater writer.

Well, forgive me for saying that clearly the thought occurred to you...but I just wanted to get some perspective on the big picture; that's why I compared.

Oh, hey, I don't mind. Just wanted to make that point about the paper's production schedule, that's all.

That's fine of course. But it seems to me that a daily's schedule would be tightest, for the breaking news, anyways. Then a weekly's, then a monthly's. Then a yearly's. &c.

I miss those history stories by Mann. The old Sauk Trail story is fine, but I liked those gritty details in Mann's work.

Mr. Mann's stories will start appearing in the News next Monday. The News is also going to publish a profile of him exposing the shall we say colorful details of a historian's secret life. And I'll be a-linkin' to each and every one of his history stories, so no regular reader will miss any of them.

The Zilke story sucked. It was devoid of the slightest human detail. The Chicago Road is a human artifact, with many a colorful human story attached to it, none of which were mentioned in the dry-as-dust Zilke story. It was boring and dull.

Yes, I agree, the Sauk Trail story did suck. "Fine" is a word I sometimes use to denote unhappiness that I don't want to explore because its not worth the effort. I should try to be more precise in my language. I'm glad to hear about the reappearance of Mann's stories in a different forum.

Well, that language in my comment was a bit coarse. I should have rather said it was dry and dull. A good example of why people grow up to think history is dull, when it is actually the most interesting subject imaginable.
