Lee Ogden came to Abigails Bar this morning to find his lost car keys.

Ogden, 23, of Shorebridge Towers, was returning to the bar just a few hours after he witnessed a shooting there earlier this morning that left two men dead. He stood in the bar parking lot, pointing at a blood-filled police outline of a body, and talked about what he saw.

I came out of the bar last night about 1 oclock. I was going to get my car, said Ogden. All of a sudden, I heard three shots, and the guy right next to me dropped. I started trying to keep him alive.

Ogden, who was still wearing his bloodstained blue jeans and dark green tee-shirt, said he knelt by the wounded man and began giving him heart massage.

But they told me it wasnt doing any good. His blood was running out too fast, Ogden said.

I dont know where the shots came from. I couldnt figure that out. But they sounded like maybe they came from over there somewhere, he said, pointing across Grove Street, which runs just to the east of the bar parking lot.

Ogden said he was told later that a second man was also killed, but he did not see that victim or even know where he had fallen.

Ogden, who had a badly swollen black eye and nose this morning, said the next thing he knew the police arrived.

Then I got grabbed and thrown in the cop car, and I went crazy because there was no reason to throw me in the cop car, he said.

Yeah, sure, I was drunk.

Ogden said he was taken to jail and was released only this morning. He said he has been charged because of his drinking and must appear in court Nov. 3.

Im not sure how I got the black eye, he said. And my nose is broke in four spots. Im supposed to go to the hospital this morning. But Im trying to find my car keys.

Man alive, talk about a hard luck case. You should see the photo. "Seedy" only begins to describe it. Stil, he did try to save the guy.

I don't get why he was arrested? It says because of the drinking, but was it because there was evidence he'd driven?

That's a good question. My guess is they asked him to come downtown for questioning as a witness, and (as he said he was drunk) he misunderstood, and, as he says, "went crazy," at which point they arrested him for being drunk and disorderly, which I think but am not sure is an arrestable offense. But that's just a guess.
