Hmm. Artist in residence for the Ypsi Department of Public Works? No, that doesn't quite work. Artist in residence for abandoned Washtenaw County farms and urban buildings? That's better, but still not it. Artist in residence for Ypsi Twp cemeteries? Maybe. Artist in residence for the Thompson Building? Possibly. Artist in residence for the CVS on the corner? Hmm.
In fact, Ypsidixit used to be the de facto artist in residence of a convenience store, the old Dairy Mart once just off South U, across from the Social Work Building. My friend and I worked the night shift. Or, he worked. I painted big posters with attempted ironic takes on our crappy products for sale. I had a cool boss. It was wonderful. I loved it. The posters were hung all over the store; I still have some. At any rate, back to the artist in residence question.* * * * * * * * * * * *
