The one @ Mansfield? Damn... But we have about 2876 others in the area to fill the void.

Yes, I think Mansfield was the cross street. The family that ran it was very nice; I liked them. It was a tad troubling to me that aside from the mis-shipped items sold on auctions (Israeli spaghetti sauce, Dutch mushrooms) there was also a good percentage of the goods on display that seemed deliberately manufactured just for dollar store sales (cheapo scissors, rough wooden spoons, cheap sticky tape). I wondered who made those items, and for what pittance.

But you're right, there are plenty of others, though none within winter biking distance (3-mile radius from the water tower) to my knowledge. At least my beloved Value World is still rolling along, just around the corner from my house, saints be praised.

There is one near Big Lots in that shopping area on... is it Eisenhower? With the Wal-Mart and Busch's?

Yes, it's on Ellsworth, right around the corner from Michigan Ave. Wait a minute, *near* Big Lots? In addition to Big Lots? There's also a delightful Eastern European restaurant that I like, hidden away in the strip mall.

I think it was at a Big Lots that I once got a box of football cards (of United States, National Football League players) that had originally been released in Mexico! The player biographies on the back were all in Spanish, of course, and the team nicknames were also rendered in Spanish (I think my favorite team was called "Los Empacadores de Green Bay" or something like that).
