Murph has a detailed analysis of this in his Dec. 7 post.

"In Ann Arbor this means that for housing to be considered affordable, the cost per month cannot exceed $989."

what a bargain! Who chose that number? How much do THEY make a year?

I say, let the rich have ann arbor and we'll see how 'cool' it is in a few years, once atrophy sets in.

I also like the quote What happens is that more and more affordable housing keeps coming, and the risk is that you could just create a ghetto of some sort,.

$989 is a whole lot more than my mortgage, for heaven's sake. The ghetto comment, two weeks from Christmas, is especially nice.

Ann Arbor is quickly morphing into a semi-crunchy Birmingham.

I was born and raised in AA, but I was priced out of the housing market, and I am now an ex-Ann Arborite. It makes me sad, but if Ann Arbor is just going to become a big outside mall, then they can have it.

Ann Arbor was a truly fun and interesting place to live for decades because of the people who lived here, not the wealthy people who shopped here.

It's a shame what's happened to Ann Arbor...

Yep...when I was house-shopping AA wasn't even on my radar. Way too pricey; I could barely find anything in Ypsi.

(quietly wondering what "semi-crunchy" means)...

"Preserve their way of life" , so their kids can kill each other and kidnap random women?

I'll take the Ypsi way of life, thank you very much.
