Anna - 2004-11-01 22:14:22 I think mark deserves some thanks as well. I had a hard enough time holding my nose for the five seconds it took me to vote for kerry, and can't imagine if I had had to actually campaign for the guy. If anyone out there is voting for the ward 2 city council position, it's a contest between John Gawlas (borish incumbent fence-sitter who let the peninsular paper mill be demolished in his ward) and Tom Bagwell (20-year-old upstart 'libertarian' with no experience who thinks demolishing the mill was a great idea). I wrote in Daniel Lace Quirk, the former mill president who died in 1900, and encourage everyone to do the same. Dead people win elections all the time in America.* * * * * * * * * * * * Brett - 2004-11-02 09:34:42 i would like to apologize to everyone for my generalization in the post above. Daniel Lace Quirk actually died in 1912. Please forgive me.* * * * * * * * * * * * Laura - 2004-11-02 10:03:26 (Smiling) That is an elegant gesture, Brett. I was too fuzzy-brained to think of something so clever. I will admit I did vote for Bagwell, though, after reading an interview w/him in the Echo. Fresh air on council. Plus I'm somewhat partial to those prickly libertarians--I voted for Greens and libertarians when possible--not for the prez, needless to say. * * * * * * * * * * * * Laura - 2004-11-02 10:31:05 Anna, fyi I haven't made any changes in font size (I'm at the readability limit now...).* * * * * * * * * * * * add your comment: |
