Were you enjoying, as I was, the 'migrations' of fall leaves to and fro on Saturday? It resulted, by the end of the day, in neatly-organized piles of leaves deposited throughout downtown, blocks away from where the leaves had first fallen, as though unseen do-gooders had picked up all the leaves and raked them into tidy little piles for pickup.

Yes, that was actually a lovely day, although all of my laundry migrated off the line, as well. It was fun to see the leaves skitter and whirl around.

My front fence + wind resulted in a huge yellow leafdrift.

Some church in Gaines (which my spouse and I do not attend) sends out a newsletter to everyone in the area (I am assuming they must just send it to everyone, since we have never attended services there) which has similar diary excerpts from someone who had a farm in the area way back when. I think these are somewhat more recent than the Geddes diaries, maybe 1920s or so. One thing I definitely recall from one of them was references to listening to the World Series on the radio. No ESPN or Fox Sports Channel back then! They are an interesting window into a time very much different from 2004, or even the late 60s and early 70s when I was a child.

It is indeed interesting to read such items and imagine a different time; I love doing that.
