That $2.00 bill looks like an excellent example of such a bill. I notice you have a Ypsi $ 3.00 displayed also. I have a $ 3.00 Bank of Washtenaw County bill from the early 1830's. The back is totally blank. I bought it from a street vendor just outside of the NY Stock Exchange in 2001. He had a cart loaded with thousands of old bills and stock certificates. Last few times I have been back there I have not seen him.

There are few things so beautiful as old money, don't you think, Annarborcrat? I think it's amazing that you actually have a bill from--the 1830s! I'm surprised 1. that the back is blank* and 2. that it surfaced in New York of all places. I have some cherished Civil War-era money that I love to look at.

*wonder why.

Somewhere I have a piece of Nicaraguan currency from the Sandinista era, complete with a picture of General Augusto Sandino himself. I also have a couple of coins with Sandino on the front. Some peace movement friends of mine brought them back from a trip to Nicaragua during the mid-1980s when we were all students at Central Michigan U.

Quite interesting, Vince. For my money, Holland had the world's most beautiful money. The tientje (ten) had a huge sunflower on it--wow. EU money is dull, right down to the smallest coin (I saw some). Korean money is pretty cool, and Australian coins have indigenous animals on the back--how could anyone not like a coin with a kiwi on it?
