Neither science nor government show much interest in enforcement of traffic laws. The consuming public shouldn't be alarmed or retarded. The money goes to analysis. Industry of course maintains an focus on gadgets. If you don't want to run over your children, install cameras and radar. Gadgets are for sale.

While the crash data site would be fun if my mouse-chewed telephone lines would permit it to load, I feel dwarfed by the abnegation of responsibility on the part of government, industry, and science to get people to slow down and stop for stop signals. 0-60 in as fast as possible seems to be a god-given right. Hello? I'm reading and cartooning the Charters of Freedom. They don't say that.

Yes, people in general are in an awful hurry in their polluting gas vehicles. As a biker (I biked, half-frozen, to work today) I always obey traffic signs but am continually amazed that the car people seem to think the road is theirs only, contrary to Michigan law. I rely on stern glances and an aggressive road-using policy to get me to work.

I took a picture of that mangled car in the front garden of that house on Oakwood and Washtenaw! (Sorry, it's still in my camera, otherwise I'd share it with the class.)

I missed that. When did that accident happen? I do remember a bunch of flashing lights at the intersection not too long ago. The main problem that I see is the constant stream of people heck-bent on beating the light and left-turning off eastbound Washtenaw into EMU.

The left turners must also compete with the drivers who turn right on red despite the "no turn on red" sign.
