Now, that is interesting!--what does it look like? Are you allowed to release a picture of it yet, or is it still under wraps?

Ah, sorry, Phil. May I ask, what is new about the 2005 model? What part did you work on? I think that would be a fabulous job.

Oh boy don't get me started....LOL Do I ever have pictures. Actually the car is done and shipping to dealers right now. It is a combination of the original 60's models mixed with a new modern look. We have hit a home run with this one :) This thing is pure American sports car muscle and just screams American heritage. Watch out for the commercial in November where the 2005 Mustang revs the National Anthem with it's engine similar to Jimmie Hendrix doing it with his guitar at Woodstock:) I will post a link to some pictures in a minute.......

That sounds like quite a mix, and how exciting to be involved with such a project! I've always thought car designing must be incredibly fun and interesting.

http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/05/index.htm Look here :) I worked on the V6 engine. There is a V6 and V8 (GT) option. I can lift the hood and take credit for at least 3 major engine components :) My job can get tiring but when the product is released, I get as excited as ever. I can't wait to see people looking at them at the dealer show rooms and hopefully buying them.

Wow--it's beautiful, and you can really see elements of the old Mustang blended seamlessly with the modern design. I especially like it in sleek silver.

Is this the V6? I would think it would be very rewarding to be able to point to a real component of a car as something one had designed.

Hmm, on closer inspection that's the V8--sorry.

Here's a better picture--below which is a somewhat heated discussion about the pros and cons of the engine--it seems to some degree controversial. The throttle by wire seems to be a sore point.

No the reviews have ALL been very good. This puppy is doing 0-60 in 5 secs. I think from all the reviews I have read we hit a home run. I will link them.

Well what do you know? I am working today too which is very unusual for me to be doing on a Saturday. I am being nice and covering for someone else. I am glad to have had to work today because otherwise I might have slept all day as I sometimes do when the weather is rainy and cold.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=6&article_id=1603 Everyone has reviewed it so far but many are in the mags only like Motor Trend and Car and Driver. THere is no mention of issues with our ETB or the car's performance except praise. So while these engine fans have the right to debate new technolog the truth is we nailed it. Read some reviews when you get a minute. Talk to you later.

Lynne: there is nothing more relaxing and cozy than sleeping all day or at least puttering around the house in slippers when it's rainy and cold.

Phil: you are right, that was a very positive review. I was interested to note that stick is standard, and automatic is optional. Now, who would drive a car like that with a boring automatic? That's totally inappropriate. You have to have a stick with a car like that--that's half the fun of driving. All my cars have been sticks, including the current Pontiac Sunfire (and ancient F150). I refuse to drive an automatic. Dull. Dull. Dull.

It occurs to me that it is now too late for the Observer to interview candidates and report on the county clerk's race. Oh well.
