Woohoo! Very nice piece, and I'll notice you're the only one in the online version with a picture. Congratulations!

Thank you, Lynne, Jane, and YD, for your very kind comments, and thanks for reading the story. YD: I have 2 pairs of glasses, you are observant. Went with the more urban version for the photo.

Ypsidixit is very honored to have been picked by tech reporter Mike Wendland, and is humbled and proud to represent Ypsilanti!

On Monday or Tuesday, my work/ride buddy exclaimed: "there she is" Making the turn onto Dixboro rd from the park was the silver helmet. As YD wants to remain anonymous and respects the animity of others he did not take a good look, but in the rear view mirror it seemed like the biker was attempting to make the hill. Perhaps knowing she might be watched.

:) Ypsidixit respects YD's anonymity, and has resolutely biked (not walked) up the Dixboro Hill of Death ever since she was spotted walking up, loser-like, by the alert YD some months ago.

Oh gosh. I thought you two were friends in the real world and not just the blog world.

Laura - 2004-09-16 09:29:22
Nope. We're friends in the fake world. Or so I'd like to think.

Laura, you look exactly the way I pictured you! Nice story. Were you uncomfortable with them outing you?

Laura - 2004-09-16 09:46:40
That's odd that I'd look the way you pictured me! Thanks for reading it.
No, I was too honored and taken aback to be picked by Mr. Wendland to worry about being outed--I've pretty much outed myself anyways, at least to regular readers.

That is so cool! Is your picture in a hard copy version of the Free Press as well? I had my picture in the Central Michigan U campus paper and the Mt. Pleasant city paper a few times when I was an undergrad at CMU from 1984-87. I was involved in the peace movement on campus and was usually holding a banner or sign at one of our rallies.

Thanks for reading it Vince. Yep, there's a little picture in the print edition. Yes, isn't it fun to have your picture in the paper?

lynne - 2004-09-16 11:05:31
It does seem like it would be fun. You should frame a copy :)

when the Ypsi blog story was in the Courier last spring, I bought 20 copies and...there they sit on my shelf. Getting dusty. :)

Laura, Congrats on the feature----you and I used to correspond when I was doing calendar releases for Women Business Owners of SE Michigan. How nice to pick up the morning paper and get to know you even better! Don't know that I would have pictured you as a blogger (then again, what does a blogger look like? ). Nice to "see" you again

Dear Ms. Wyess: Yes, of course, I remember you! Thank you for your kind comment. Indeed, I am a blogger through and through. :) Nice to hear from you; thank you for reading the blog.

Just wanted you to know that the link from Mike Wendland's page is broken already. I am contacting him also. Best Witches.

Congrats on the buzz! The page is back up, it just got moved when Wendland posted a new column: http://www.freep.com/money/tech/mwend16_20040916.htm Keep up the good work, yo.

Is this the gentleman who bitterly accused (without the slightest shred of evidence, not to mention decency) the Michibloggers winners of committing unspeakable acts of depraved filth, illegal in most states, with the good Mike Wendland?

Uncle Grambo! You must answer for your deplorable accusations!

Laura - 2004-09-24 15:37:09
Don't call me "yo," you depraved mangler of language.
