That little hummer was a Rubythroat. Too see any other ones you got to travel quite far. Go to Cuba and you can see Bee Humingbirds small as your pinky. (They are birds not bugs) Soon to be extirparated if things don't change.

It was a splendid thing to see--such a dainty and elegant little bird.
Bee Hummingbirds sound very interesting--but if I may ask, why are they soon to disappear? Or do you mean hummingbirds in general?

The poor folks in Cuba barely have enough to live and they are beating up the environment in which this micro avians dwell. Hard to raise babies that are smaller than a dime amidst chainsaws and earth moving eqipment. Communisim doesn't leave much margin for environmentalisism. Hard to get to Cuba right now.
