The bike-shop on the corner of Packard and Wells definitely sells recumbent bikes. Blanking on the name of the place... But I see people test-riding them down my block every weekend. FWIW.

Hmm...by Burns Park? Can't recall ever seeing a bike shop, unless it's in the plaza there.

Is a semi-recumbent a slightly less relaxed seating position? Bicycles in Town has a great business.

Yep. Semi-recumbents are halfway between laying-down recumbent (invisible on road) and regular upright wedgies. I love Bicycles in Town. Cheap parts, nice people, cat, reasonably-priced bikes.

UPDATE: Test-biked this one in Bicycles in Town parking lot. It's fun. The front steering is wobbly compared to regular bikes and would take a bit of getting used to, but that smoothed out in just a few minutes of riding. Very comfy. It's graceful, and they have a slick black model for sale, plus all the parts. Thinking about it.

Hey, as this an Ypsi blog it occurs to me that we should support the local businesses. So please shop around and you'll find that Bicycles In Town has the lowest prices. Also, if your interested, you can take the recumbent for the weekend and cruise aroound, before you buy it. Cheers, S

Dear Scott: Welcome to the blog! Might you be the very helpful gentleman who answered some questions of mine at BIT today? If so, I'd like to say I appreciated your good service. And, having shopped around the Ann Arbor--Ypsi area extensively for a recumbent, I can attest that BIT indeed has the best prices in town, period. And how many places would let a total stranger take a pricey machine for a whole weekend? Answer: none. I like supporting a Mich. Ave. business, and I like the small-town friendliness of BIT. Nice people, good prices, good service. My favorite bike store in Ypsi. People! Start/continue biking! Go to BIT! Buy things there!

Thank you for the welcoming, also I have a question for you. How can I get people involved or at least generate interest in organizing a grass roots campaign to remoze the board of regents from EMU. Quite serious about this endeavor, and in light of the recent articles in the A2 news, I think this is long overdue. Any pointers? S

Scott, would it be OK with you if I made a separate post out of your question? Sometimes people tend to read just the last day's worth of posts--they might miss your question if I leave it here.

Recumbant? It seems so to him whether he rides it, pushes it, or sleeps with it.

Anyone who has been around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti for a while is likely to have seen Wally and his bicycle. Wally is "VietNam-Era-ish" in appearance. He is not indigent though at first glance he looks it. Look closer and you'll see some bling-bling and perhaps even a cell phone. Wally used to talk to himself LOUDLY more than he does now while he wrote page after page in notebooks or read scrapbooks of newspaper clippings.

Wally was a regular in the Jonni's Coney Island on Cross while it was open. He's often lately in the Wolverine. One winter I heard someone ask Wally if he was still camping out. "FRESH AIR!" Wally replied.

Anyway, you may see a bike without Wally, but you're not likely to see Wally along the road withouthis bike.

Not a bad little bike--but it doesn't look locked up... Good for him for being a snow-biker.
