How wierd is that? That's identical to the path that I took when I lived in Ypsi and worked at Plymouth and Green in A2. An incredibly nice and relaxing ride early in the morning, with the mist coming off the Huron and the swans gliding to and fro -- beats the heck out of sitting gridlocked waiting for the turn on to Dixboro.

And yes, the only thing worse than going back up that calf-destroying hill at Dixboro is heading into Ann Arbor and being narrowly missed by idiots cutting around those waiting to turn left into WCCC, through the bike lane. I was nearly hit several times. Do be careful.

My partner and I are currently riding that route-- well, sort of. On the way home we take that route, and on the way there, as we live on S. Normal St., we head down Packard to Platt then down Washtenaw (we both work by washtenaw and hill). anyways-- its good to hear other folks are doing this. It takes about 45 minutes both ways for us. (today i did packard in 40!) I,too, would NOT get excercise in otherwise. I'm always wondering how many calories I burn.... don't know much about that stuff.

wow, cool, Jane! I've never tried it in the morning due to the, um, sweat factor, but it sounds like maybe the cool temps would offset that. I'll have to think about it. You are right about the WCC--that can be a dicey area; thanks for the warning.
kj, you are burning rubber if you do the to-work route you describe in 40 minutes! Also, you can just plug the data into the calculator linked in the main post to find out how many calories, &c.
I have to get a lighter bike one of these days--a heavy mountain bike is not the best for urban street travel (so why'd you buy it?--it was dirt cheap and I was not yet a fanatic biker).
