patience, patience. as soon as Visteon's tax abatement pays off with increased employment of Ypsi residents (just like Exemplar's and their 10.8 acre land-grab)and the 2 million $ city bond investment in Water Street's 800+ posh condos produces one million $ per annum in taxes all will be solvent. until then, why not a toll on MichAve collected by loiterers while drivers sit beside the median in cars stalled by traffic-calming red lights ("Oh, look, honey! Another vacant building.")? Welcome to ForSale-ForRent-ForLease-ilanti.

The paper mill apartments will kick in some cash for the city too, but not for some years down the road. If the city income tax comes up for a vote, I can't see that it would be approved. Meanwhile apparently the Twp is sitting pretty cashwise from what I've read. I've long wondered why the city and the Twp can't somehow amalgamate, share services, and kind of even out the difference--it's possible that that is as usual a naive comment.

oh, sorry, i forgot the paper mill burden. the city helps its cashflow problem by approving an enterprise that requires more in services than it pays for in taxes. forever. as to the city and the township, hillbillies versus snobs and never the twain shall meet. anyone in power is not about to share it.
