Wow those are the exact opposite of what I think a good looking cat would be.

I suppose it's the novelty that people like. I do kind of like the surprised-looking guy on the left. My favorite breeds, though are sulky Persians and giant Maine Coon cats, which can get up to 25 pounds. Turkish Vans are cool too because they like to swim--it would be fun to have a swimming cat.

This whole creation of new cat breeds thing seems to be pretty frequent. I guess this is how cat magazines make their money. My mother just got a cat called a Snowshoe that I didn't even know existed. The breed was established by crossing a Siamese with an American Shorthair, resulting in a cat with white feet and a somewhat less dramatic manner than the usual Siamese.

Snowshoe...is that a polydactyl breed? Bred to be polydactyls, I mean? I've heard about the drama-queen nature of Siameses. And I dearly miss my snotty white Persian Victor/Victoria (Vivi), who passed away last year. Found him at the Humane Society, of all places, where I'm thinking of getting a dog for my dog a la "Dharma and Greg."

and speaking of new breeds, another new breed, developed from a Russian genetic mutation (near Chernobyl no doubt) is the Egyptian Hairless Sphinx. Here's one li'l cutie:

Voted Cat I'd Least Like to Jump Up On Bed in the Morning. I love cats, but this poor fellow is hideous! I'd at least put a little sweater on him, lest he catch his death. And to hide those wrinkles.
