Ooh, the idea of a vacated cemetary is kind of spooky. 'You only moved the headstones!'

If you subscribe to the theory that places can "tape-record" emotional states or energy--I don't necessarily subscribe to that, but I do find it intriguing--then certainly both vacated and abandoned cemeteries might give one the quivers...I certainly wouldn't want to be in such a place alone.

Hmmm, I had heard that the new Ypsilanti Township Hall displaced an African-American cemetery. True or not?

Really? Wow. Dumb question: you don't mean the Civic Center out there by the library...and you don't mean City Hall at Mich Ave & Huron; forgive me, where is the township hall?

I mean the township government center, 7200 S. Huron River Drive, a couple miles south of the city of Ypsilanti.
I heard this because I got an inquiry from an African-American woman who had relatives buried in that cemetery, and wondered where they had been reburied to. At the time, I was unfortunately too busy to do the research to answer her question.

Wow. I'll have to see if I can find any info on that...quite interesting.
