I sympathize with the impulse. I've got a couple of plants that I inflict on my office because they're too large for my place. Yet I can't help thinking of the James Thurber fable that ends "... The elephant wasn't pink anymore. It was white." ;) Seriously, my pickup truck is at your disposal, but I wouldn't try it in this cold. Maybe next month sometime.

That is so kind, Jim--I very much appreciate your generous and thoughtful offer. In the past day and a half, however, the entire office has gotten so much enjoyment from these big guys that I'm tempted to keep them there! So far, 1. 2 people have actually sung me 2 plant-related songs (JHil.: "In the Jungle"; PSchw., "The Biggest Aspidistra in the World," complete with souvenir printed-out lyrics. 2. PSchr. has made a number of jokes, cautioning me today to keep these hidden from a certain person who loves to decorate everything and who would make them into "St. Patrick's Day trees" with little beer-mug decorations hung all over them. 3. 3 other people have requested the dramatic Plant Rescue Story. 4. One entire small group gathered around them this afternoon, for no other reason that they seem to exude a powerful attractive force They've made quite a sensation, in short.

Maybe Michael Moore will take the ficus and run it for political office! He has done this in the past, when there is some local race where there is only one human candidate running. Vote Ficus!

That is hilarious...talk about grassroots politics. :) Did the ficus get any votes? I can think of a shrub that got too many.
