Wrench the warsh.
My all time MI favorite.

The biggest challenges when I came to Michigan: hearing "route" pronounced "rout" rather than "root" and hearing people refering to Coke as "pop" (which is dead wrong -- us East Coasters know that "pop" is your male parental unit and that Coke is properly referred to as "soda").

The first time I asked for pop in Boston, the guy said, "Pop? Pop? Pop goes the weasel!"

It's odd that people do get into a lather about this silly little difference. "Pop" vs. "soda" was one of the main topics of conversation, incredulity, and ridicule during my entire freshman year. The Boston guy sounds provincial by saying something so dopey.

I've been checking out the rest of Mr. Weaver's site. He's selling "Michigear" from Seattle via Cafepress. Talk about not representing.

Eric Weaver is a Poser. What's the matter, can't peddle crass Seattle trinketry anymore? Thanks.

Hmm...he is in Seattle, but he does mention "expatriates"....and also this: "The Michigear Store is my attempt to create some coolio gear to make the people here in Washington green with envy."
("coolio"?)

Well, he's representing from afar. And I bet those Wash-Staters are going gaga over Cobo Arena napkin holders or whatever he's shilling.

Let's see...I could create a SeattleNative.com site, but that wouldn't be authentic...since I'm a Michigan native. In fact, having lived there for over thirty years, I'm wondering how many of you have even reached 30? Representing, indeed. It's always amusing to read comments from folks in small towns far away who feel that they have enough information to pass judgment on others whom they've never met. Keep on keepin' on, homies...I'm damned proud of ya. - Eric Weaver

Now, now, let's not get testy. Incidentally, I've lived in MI for 32 of my 36 years. What do small towns have to do with anything? You mean you're cooler than folks in all towns across the country with populations less than that of Seattle? Why would that be? Y'know, if you had responded with evidence of a sense of humor, you probably would've won us over. Lighten up. And if you have a big-cities-are-inherently-better elitism, perhaps it's better you're gone--Lord knows we have enough elitists in AA already.
